About the event

AWOL Fest is the first major festival concept from the creators of ALT_CTRL — New York City’s rising underground party series. Set in an intimate 250-capacity venue, AWOL Fest will deliver an energy-charged late-night experience showcasing local talent across rap, alt, EDM, punk, and R&B.

Building on ALT_CTRL’s mantra of Rage. Release. Repeat., AWOL Fest takes the chaos to the next level — giving young audiences (ages 18–28) a space to break free from the everyday and immerse themselves in raw, unfiltered music culture.

My name is Michael Paul, founder of the AW brand and creator of ALT_CTRL. ALT_CTRL started as more than just a party — it’s a space where people come together to let go, rage, and release, almost like a collective therapy session through music.

 

AWOL Fest is the next step in that vision: taking the same energy and freedom from ALT_CTRL and putting it on a festival stage. My goal isn’t just to throw shows — it’s to build experiences that let people escape the everyday and connect through music and culture.
